An announcement for our readers who live in, or within driving distance of, Cambridge, Mass.: Charles Altieri (English, University of California, Berkeley) will be speaking to the Modernism Seminar at the Humanities Center at Harvard this Thursday (the 17th) from 6-8pm. The topic of his presentation: “Why Modernist Claims to Autonomy Matter in Poetry and Painting.”

(Speaking of modernist poetry and painting, it looks like Cambridge University Press has, just this year, released a paperback edition of Altieri’s classic study, Painterly Abstraction in Modernist American Poetry: click here to visit CUP’s page for the book.)
