Video: Stanley Cavell’s 2006 Kenan Lecture in Ethics (Duke)

In 2006, Stanley Cavell delivered the annual Kenan Distinguished Lecture in Ethics at Duke University. The title of his talk was “Thinking About and Eating Animals: Reflections on Coetzee’s The Lives of Animals,” a version of which has since appeared in print as “Companionable Thinking” in Alice Crary’s edited volume, Wittgenstein and the Moral Life: Essays in Honor of Cora Diamond, and then later in Cary Wolfe’s edited collection, Philosophy and Animal Life. Last June, we posted a link to a downloadable video-recording of this lecture (here), but we’ve just learned that Duke has uploaded a video of this lecture to YouTube, and so we thought we’d provide a convenient embedded version of that video here as well:
