We wanted to let you know of a very exciting two-day event that will take place at Duke’s Center for Philosophy, Arts, and Literature next spring: a symposium with Frederic Jameson, Michael Fried, and Robert Pippin (organized and moderated by Toril Moi) on the topic of “Realism/Modernism/Philosophy.” Below is the current description of the event available on PAL’s website. Look for more information in the future on PAL’s Upcoming Events page. We’ll let you know when we learn more about it too.
PAL is privileged to be able to host Realism/Modernism/Philosophy: A Symposium, with Fredric Jameson (Duke), Michael Fried (Johns Hopkins University) and Robert Pippin (University of Chicago), where these superb scholars will both present their work and engage in conversation about art, art history and philosophy. This symposium will take place on March 4th and 5th, 2010. March 4th will consist of three lectures, and March 5th will be a panel discussion with Jameson, Fried and Pippin, moderated by Toril Moi. More information to follow.
